IPOH: Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah has attributed the rise in the nation’s revenue over the last three years, including higher revenue collection by the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) and Royal Malaysia Customs Department, to the government’s transformation initiatives.

“The nation’s income has increased because of the efficient tax collection by IRB and Customs, and our New Economic Model has succeeded with economic growth at 5.2 per cent in the third quarter of last year,” he told reporters after the Chinese New Year open house for his Tambun parliamentary constituency here yesterday.

The Economic Transformation Programme also facilitated the higher revenue with higher investments and a jump in company revenues creating new job opportunities, he said.

“The nation’s economy continued to grow with higher corporate revenues, and we are also moving from a low-cost economy to a high value-added economy,” he said.

Ahmad Husni expressed confidence that the country’s revenue would also continue to grow.

“We believe in 2013, the country’s revenue will grow as a result of this economic transformation which will ultimately raise coprorate revenues as well as the people’s incomes.

“Several countries have sent delegations to study our system, how we implemented our economic transformation especially in the planning,” he added.
