The utilisation exposure of the government's electronic procurement system, ePorelehan (eP) will be implemented in Sabah to provide opportunities to suppliers in the state to undertake online business transactions with government parties.
eP Unit Project Director, Datuk Mohd Shafiq Abdullah said the future
plans would be to increase the number of eP and eP@Desa centres in Sabah
to facilitate the suppliers to get services on the eP system wholly.
"The eP unit will increase the promotion as well as give more exposure
to suppliers on the eP system," he said to Bernama after officiating
the 'Procurement Transformation' seminar at the state level, here today.
Mohd Shafiq said a total of 6,812 suppliers in Sabah are registered
with the Ministry of Finance (MoF) including 3,502 Bumiputera-status
companies, but only 51 per cent are eP-enabled, out of the total
suppliers of 110,327 in Malaysia as at September 30 this year.
He urged suppliers in Sabah to trade actively through the eP, as out of
the 4,603 suppliers that are eP-enabled, only 1,119 suppliers or 26 per
cent, have uploaded their catalogues into the eP system.
According to the MoF observation, the utilisation of eCatalogue by
Federal Government agencies was low as few suppliers uploaded their
catalogues into the system.
He said the eP system fulfilled today's needs as shown by the
transaction value at the state level, which reached RM669 million from
January to October this year, with Local Purchase Order (LPO) totalling
87,368.
Mohd Shafiq said the government will enhance the eP system that meet
the needs and wants of suppliers who are more Internet-savvy.
"Through the utilisation of integrated eP system, government
procurement can be done faster, correctly and with integrity," he said.
He hoped the eP will become the best platform for all suppliers who
intend to deal with the Federal Government and use the system fully so
that the government's objective of creating a K-economy and high income
nation are achieved towards Vision 2020.
A total of 150 suppliers from Keningau dustrict including Tenom,
Nabawan, Keningau and Tambunan attended the seminar free-of-charge,
which was managed by Commerce Dot Com Sdn Bhd, the strategic development
partner of eP system.
