Looks like Sabah economy is heading to the right path, thanks to the project in the field such as oil and gas (O&G), oil palm, construction and tourism sectors.

This is what being said by businessman Tan Sri Megat Najmuddin Megat Khas, who sits on the board of Petronas, Dialog Group Bhd, Formis Resources Bhd, Tradewinds Corp Bhd and MajuPerak Holdings Bhd.

Tan Sri Megat added that  he is confident that the local economy will continue to be strong, attracting local and foreign investors.

Tan Sri Megat is a well known businessman and certainly will not said something that has no basis. Back in May this year, Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman has announced that Sabah is expected to receive an investment of more than RM1 billion from US-based company Dole, in the food and fruits industry. Dole will be collaborating with one of the state government agencies and discussion is still being held to determine the best method of cooperation.

Speaking to the reporters at the launch of Imago Mall, a retail mall project in Kota Kinabalu by Asian Pac Holdings Bhd, Tan Sri Megat said that Sabah's gross domestic product (GDP) for the worst two years of the global crises in 2008 and 2009 has been strong, at 7.7 per cent and 3.3 per cent, despite being in backwaters.

"Going forward, the state's GDP is projected to be more than seven per cent per annum in the next few years, he added.
