This is the message that the Chief Minister, Musa Aman carried in his keynote address when officiating the grand opening of Harbour Mall Sandakan and Four Points by Sheraton Sandakan on October 20th, 2012.
Musa Aman said that close cooperation between the government and private sector will strengthen
domestic and foreign investors’ confidence towards of the State economy
and the huge potential of the domestic tourism.
He added that, "This is in line with the state government’s emphasis and commitment to be
a pro-business government and its approach towards the private sector
as its partner".
On tourism, which is one of the Halatuju sector, Musa expressed confidence that tourist arrival figures will continue to
increase in the years to come. This also means more hotel rooms are
needed to accommodate the increasing number of visitors and hence the
opening of Four Points by Sheraton Sandakan is indeed timely.
According to Musa, Sabah State Government projects tourist arrivals of about 2.75 million or more this year (2012), repeating positive performance in 2011.

Managing Director, Lai Voon Hon, acknowledged the strong support of
several leaders including Musa, who have been very instrumental in
making this project a success.
Lai stated that his company were very fortunate to have a visionary supporters, Datuk Seri Musa Aman who was supported this project from the beginning.
Lai added that Musa had personally witnessed the launch in 23 January 2003 and in fact personally intervened on more than two occasions to help ensure the project stayed on track.
Lai end his speech by thanking the Chief Minister for his strong support of the project.
Two projects worth hundreds of millions of ringgit, which will bring positive impact on the nation's economy, are being implemented with help from the private sector.
ReplyDeleteChief Secretary to the Government Datuk Seri Dr Ali Hamsa said one of the projects was the geothermal power plant in Apas Kiri, involving a private investment of RM500 million, and capable of generating 30MW of electricity during the first phase. The other project was the Sipadan Mangrove Resort.
ReplyDeleteAli said although it involved a large investment from the private sector, the government had put in 10 per cent of the total investment value.
ReplyDeleteAs for the Sipadan Mangrove Resort, the government's facilitation fund would pave the way for the project, which would also see the building of a new road linking the village and the resort, thus benefiting the local community.
ReplyDeleteAli said the government encouraged private sector cooperation in implementing projects because they would have a positive impact on the national economy, apart from creating jobs for local residents.
