KOTA
KINABALU: The Chairman of BIMP-EAGA Malaysia Business Council Datuk
Roselan Johar Mohamed, who has been vocal in proposing the establishment
of a Custom, Immigration, Quarantine and Security (CIQS) post in Kudat,
was all smiles last Sunday when he heard that the government had agreed
to establish such a post.
On that chilly day, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, on an official visit to Kudat, said he agreed in principle to the setting up of the CIQS centre as well as the construction of a coastal road linking Tuaran, Kota Marudu and Kudat.
“Even though this has been planned and discussed at the Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-the Philippines-East Asean Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) meetings for umpteen times, finally this announcement has made all our efforts worthwhile and none has gone to waste.
“The Prime Minister has given me the best present for my forthcoming 60th birthday,” said Roselan, who is also Sabah Bumiputera Chamber of Commerce Honorary Treasurer in an interview with Bernama.
On October 20 last year, Roselan, during the BIMP-EAGA meeting in Cagayan De Oro (Mindanao, Philippines), urged the Malaysian government to establish a CIQS post in Kudat.
