JEJAK 2012 is TERAJU's platform to reach out to entrepreneurs across the nation and provide an interactive communication channel between TERAJU and local business nationwide. TERAJU is expanding its regional presence and with JEJAK 2012 establishes its presence within each of the 5 regional economic corridors, namely Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER), Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE), SDC, Eastern Coast Economic Region (ECER) and Iskandar Malaysia (formerly known as Iskandar Development Region). Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Aman, Chief Minister of Sabah said that the roles that TERAJU plays able to accelerate the development of industry such as tourism, manufacturing, agriculture and food processing so that it can be utilized by the local entrepreneur.
The fund mounted to RM100 Million is made readily available for the purpose to development of Bumiputera companies in Sabah Development Corridor. It was noted that the government has allocated RM100 million from TERAJU's RM 2 billion facilitation fund to finance development initiatives in Sabah Development Corridor (SDC). This was announced by Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop during the launching of JEJAK 2012.
TERAJU also launched its third one-stop centre- TERAJU@Sabah to reach out to Sabahan entrepreneurs. As for now there are 3 one stop centre in Malaysia; the first one is in Penang, which is the North Corridor; Sarawak is the second one stop centre and now is in Sabah. "I believe these industries able to attract more participant from local entrepreneur." said Musa. He said that the state government are always committed in implementing an overall development, in order to increased the state economic besides appreciating the cooperation and support that has been given from the Federal government through its agency, TERAJU."
Husni Salleh, Chief Executive Officer of TERAJU said TERAJU's mandate is to align, coordinate and drive Bumiputera participation in the national economy. "Various initiatives have been planned and are being implemented to help spur the Bumiputera economy." He said in order to communicate the message to entrepreneur across Malaysia, TERAJU has embarked on a nationwide roadshow. "This roadshow brings TERAJU and relevant agencies as well as related parties in the private sector to reach out to entrepreneurs nationwide and create a more conducive interaction channel."
Husni added that TERAJU's role as one of the government's transformation units was to develop Bumiputera businesses in each region. The RM100 million facilitation fund acts as a catalyst to kick start this initiative in the respective corridor.He hoped that eventually each region would be competitive and set its own benchmarks to spur business development amongst Bumiputera and eventually increase Bumiputera participation in the economy.
