Rural areas and island in Sabah are all geared up for the implementation of price standardization programme as RM100 million for this purpose was allocated by the government.
Sabah's very own Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry director Noor Alam Khan highlighted the fact that the allocation currently has been increased as more areas within the state's border has been included for the participation for this particular program; which involves Kudat, Tawau, Keningau and Tambunan.
Right after the presentation of the state-level Undergraduates Consumerism Movement awards, at the federal government administrative complex in Likas Monday, ( 15 April 2013), he told the media that the ministry acknowledge the needs that residents in the interior and islands to enjoy the same standardization of price; similar to that of that in the urban areas.
Up to date, a total of 1,444 retail shops in Sabah are participating this programme which was introduced in 2009.
On presenting the state-level Undergraduates Consumerism Movement awards, Universiti Malaysia Sabah clinched the top award, and UiTM Sabah and ATI College which were the first and second runners-up received RM1,500, RM1,200 and RM1,000 respectively, plus a certificate each.
