KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Hj Aman has applauded the
newly set up Sabah Ma Zhong Friendship Association (Samazhong) that was
established to foster closer friendship between Sabah and China.
“The State Government will support the association activities to promote business, education and cultural exchanges between Malaysia and China,” said Musa during a courtesy call on him by the association led by its president, Dr Oh Ei Sun.
During the courtesy call, Dr Oh briefed the Chief Minister on the objectives of the association which are to promote and strengthen friendly relationship between Malaysia and China towards creating a mutual beneficial understanding between its citizens, promoting business, education and cultural exchanges and providing opportunity for Sabahans to tap into the huge market potential of China while at the same time attracting investment from Chinese businesses.
“After the Chinese leadership transition in March, Sabah will see more of the top Chinese leadership coming to visit Sabah thereby opening up more opportunities for co-operation for mutual benefits,” he said.
“Their visit is recognition of the political stability and the business friendly policies and procedures of the State Barisan Nasional government, and Samazhong is confident that vital ties and co-operation, especially in the hospitality and tourism sectors, will be enhanced even more,” he added.
Also present at the courtesy call were Samazhong deputy president Chok Shau Hing, secretary-general Steven Liaw Chee Kok, treasurer Ting Sing Tai, assistant secretary-general Tony Hsing and committee members, Yii Ming Seng and Jack Liaw Chee Wah.
