KOTA KINABALU: The Ministry of Domestric Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism (KPDNKK) is planning to expand the Direct From Factory Sales Programme to other districts in Sabah next year.

The programme, introduced for the first time in Sabah this year, is currently being held at Padang Merdeka to offer consumer various items at lower prices.

The minister, Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, said they were also planning to hold the event during other festive and ‘back to school’ seasons.

“We hope the implementation of this programme will receive the fullest support and cooperation from all parties,” he said at the official launching of the four-day event, held since Thursday until tomorrow.
Ismail said the ministry would also study the effectiveness of the programme and use the findings to further improve its implementation in future.

The Direct From Factory Sales Programme was first implemented in 2009 by the ministry in Putrajaya and was held again the following year due to encouraging response from the public, and now being expanded to the rest of the country.
