Senior General Manager (Asset Management) Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB), Ahmad Fuad Md Kasim said the electricity rebate program for RM20 monthly consumption below that introduced by the government since October 1, 2009, and so far, RM38.9 million was spent for the success of the program.

However, he said only domestic premises or registered users are eligible for a rebate on electricity consumption of RM20 below where the program will continue until the end of December 2013.

As of June this year, there were 412,665 premises or domestic consumers were registered for the purpose throughout Sabah and the Federal Territory of Labuan, he said in a statement here yesterday.

Ahmad Fuad said homeowners who do not have kilowatt per hour (kWh) usage per month such as vacant or abandoned homes are not eligible for this rebate.

He said the government rebate is aimed at reducing the financial burden of low-income groups so they can still get to enjoy electricity.

The electricity rebate will be displayed in the monthly bills of consumers.

Ahmad Fuad said consumers who are eligible for the rebate but are still receiving electricity bills are advised to check the total amount to be paid before making payment.
