Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the government is committed in addressing the haze problem and has offered cloud seeding service to Indonesia. Malaysia's commitment of curbing the worsening of the air pollution, also showed that the government is totally against the misleading idea by some parties claiming that the slash and burn of forest is perpetrated by groups with interest.
The Prime Minister also hoped with the initiative the haze problem would end fast.
The prime minister said this in his Twitter on Saturday.
Previously, Natural Resources and Environment Minister Datuk Seri G. Palanivel said Malaysia would offer cloud seeding to the Indonesian government to tackle the haze problem, adding that the offer would be made during a meeting with his Indonesian counterpart in Jakarta next Wednesday.
He said the matter had been discussed with the prime minister at the cabinet meeting last Wednesday.
The haze which is shrouding the country is worse than in 2005 and 2010 when the Air Pollutant Index (API) reading in Muar touched 382, which is the hazardous level, on Thursday.
