SOOK: Some 2,607 beneficiaries from 46 villages here are set to benefit from the communal grants officially presented by Sabah state government yesterday.

They were issued under 36 communal titles involving a total of 25,896 acres (10,358 hectares) at Sook Plain (Pensiangan) and Mandalom (Keningau).

the documents to village representatives here, said this was the first phase as promised and there would be more if Barisan Nasional is given the mandate to continue their services.

“So the people of Pensiangan namely here in Sook and Nabawan must vote wisely in the coming elections and recognise the developments brought by BN government,” he said when launching the Yayasan Sabah with the People Roadshow at the community hall here.

He said the BN government understood that one of the concerns of the people was land ownership and was therefore committed to resolving this issue in Sabah, including in Pensiangan.

“The move to give these communal land titles is proof that this government walks the talk. We have been implementing this land title scheme since 2010 and today we bring it to the people of Pensiangan,” he said to the cheers of some 5000 folks who attended the event.

He said the BN government had and would continue to bring development throughout Sabah, especially in the interior areas like Pensiangan.

Musa said likewise the Federal Government under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib had come up with various projects and programmes to assist the people and reduce the burden of the rising cost of living.

“I always tell the PM that Sabah is the second largest state in Malaysia and still requires a lot of development. The Prime Minister has been very attentive to Sabah’s needs, channelling billions towards the state’s socioeconomic development.

“I know that Pensiangan still requires a lot more development and more will be coming your way,” he said.
Musa said he hoped the people in the area were aware of and valued the contribution of the BN government all these years.

He said the people should read the BN manifesto and they could judge themselves what had been implemented and achieved under the BN.

“On the state level, we have our own report card to show our achievements, from a double digit drop in poverty to achieving the largest state reserve,” he said.

He added the BN government at both the federal and state levels had assisted all regardless of race and cultural background through projects and programmes that were geared towards assisting the people to increase their standard of living.

Also present were BN candidates for Pensiangan parliamentary seat, Tan Sri Joseph Kurup, Datuk Ellron Angin (Sook state seat) and Datuk Bobbey Ahfang Suan (Nabawan state seat).

Musa said the people here should not jeapordise their future and be influenced by the empty promises of opposition.
“It is a norm in any country that particular areas ruled by opposition will not see much development, and I do not want to see Pensiangan left behind,” he said.

He said those who left BN to join the opposition were recycled leaders and have yet to prove themselves.
“Go and ask Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin when he was still in his post, there was Sabah cattle farm in Australia, thousands of acres, what happened to it now? Please also ask Datuk Richard Gunting what happened to projects like tapioca mill under his watch?” he said.

“I know Pensiangan wants to continue developing, so the people must know how to evaluate good and bad – if you pick wrongly you will be at the losing end,” he added.

During the event Musa also received allocation from the federal, represented by Federal Land and Mines Department director-general Datuk Seri Azemi Kasim, in the form of RM10 million assistance to handle native customary rights (NCR) land issues in Sabah and RM70 million premium and land taxes payment, both in mock cheques.

Later in Keningau, he officiated the groundbreaking ceremony for the administration building of SM Ken Hwa and officiated the new three-floor block of classes at SJK(C) Yuk Kong.

Also present during those events were candidates for Keningau and Tambunan, Liawan and Bingkor, Tan Sri Joseph Pairin, Datuk Sairin Karno and Kennedy John respectively as well as Sabah Gerakan chief Datuk Gordon Leong.
