Malaysian Association of Tour & Travel Agents (MATTA) played their roles and contribute towards helping the authorities ensure the security of the State. MATTA Sabah Chapter and Kuala Lumpur MATTA Fair had managed to raised RM46,880 for the Heroes Fund.

Masidi said the incident in Lahad Datu showed that members of the police department and other security agencies were always prepared to take to the front lines in defending Sabah against any security threats. He added that security is a vital factor in ensuring continuous growth, especially in the tourism sector. He added that the Lahad Datu Heroes Fund would continue to be open for donations.
Masidi also reminded the public not to listen to rumours but refer directly to the police if they had concerns or any information on security related matters. he added that rumour mongers are "weapon" often exploited in cyber warfare to create fear and instability. He urged the public to exercise caution and not get carried away with rumour; but rather place their trust in the authorities, let them do their job.
He also gave assurance that there was no need for the people in Sabah to be worried about the security level in the state, saying the situation was under control and safe, including in the east coast.
