Musa witnessing the handover of land lease extension/renewal by Land and Survey director Osman Jamal to FSM President Wong Khen Thau.

The task of ensuring a conducive environment for entrepreneurs to do business requires a serious mind set to purpose  To set this condition, all challenges and shortcomings that may effect the business sector must be take into account.

Having said that, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Aman on behalf of the State Government has given his assurance that the his administration is committed to helping the business community in Sabah. Among the issues are the land lease extension/renewal of the business sector in Kolombong which was brought to his attention by the Federation of Sabah Manufacturers (FSM) and the Kota Kinabalu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCCI).

Musa noted that FSM and KCCCI are very proactive in resolving issues for their members and they have sought hi assistance in this matter. Even though some of the lease is still valid between 10 to 20 years, Musa  understood the rationale behind wanting it to be renewed. Thus he instructed the Land and Survey Department and Hasilbumi Department directors to provide assistance to the FSM and KCCCI members in Kolombong. He too expressed his understanding of the implications  that the business community will have peace of mind and can concentrate on running their business.

During the presentation of the Letters of Approval for the Kolombong land lease extension/renewal on Wednesday (13 March 203), Musa said that "cut all the red tape and reduce bureaucracy because what is important is the assistance we can give the entrepreneurs" .

Musa acknowledged te fact that the Chinese community has significantly contributed to nation building and the growth of the economy. This has earned the appreciation of the state government in regards to the  values of  their contributions and commitment in developing the local economy through various sectors.

“Let me assure you that we are a business and investment friendly Government. This is our commitment to the business community and this has and will continue to be done through the implementation of numerous policies and initiatives at both the state and federal level. "
Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman

According to Musa, Sabah has, in recent years, seen a number of highly encouraging developments in its economy and he attributed that to the hard work of the public as well as private sectors.

On that occasion, Musa highlighted the fact that  Sabah has managed to attract significant domestic as well as foreign investment in recent years. Musa asserted his believes that a stable, pro-business and a government that is wise in its spending has been the corner stone for the economic prosperity enjoyed by all in Sabah today. It is  the fruit of political stability and a government administration that strives towards improving its service to the people.

Musa pointed out that Unity is also an important ingredient for economic prosperity: staying united and respecting diversity are a way of life in Sabah which has become a role model for 1Malaysia, a concept introduced by our Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. He stressed that  Unity through 1Malayisa also helps create a conducive environment for businesses to flourish.

Musa, who is also Finance Minister, reminded the business community that the Barisan Nasional (BN) Government is always open to feedbacks and ideas.

“We are not seasonal politicians like others. I hope the handing out of the grants will put your mind at ease so you can continue with your business operations, prosper and continue to contribute to Sabah’s economic growth. I also hope you realize that the Government of the day delivers and will continue to do so for the people’s welfare. I therefore call on all of you to close ranks and to provide undivided support to the Government’s efforts so that we can continue to enjoy political, economic and social stability in Sabah,” Musa said.

A total of 167 land titles in Kolombong were extended between 60 years to 99 years by the state Government yesterday. FSM had submitted a total of 78 titles en-bloc in 2010 while KCCCI submitted an en-bloc application of 56 titles belonging to its members for the necessary extension.
