KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Dr Yee Moh Chai says human capital plays a vital role in the progression of economy and society.

He said without the “human” in the equation, nothing will move, adding, “we can no longer treat humans as just another resource”.

“Rankings within an organisation are just that, rankings. It does reflect the fact that the higher you are in the ranks, the better you can be.

“Often times, excellent ideas come from the least expected source, the juniors, general workers, and counter staff and basically, the grassroots.

“The reason is simple. These are the people constantly in touch with reality and they do form the majority of society,” he said when launching the Sabah Entrepreneur Day (SEeD) Summit at 1Borneo, Likas, near here yesterday.

In this respect, Yee, who is also State Minister of Resource Development and Information Technology, underlined the importance of an entrepreneurial spirit among the people, irrespective of position or status in any organisation or society.

“It is, thus, crucial for us to recognise this and nurture it,” he added.
