SANDAKAN, Sept 17 (Bernama) -- Since Malaysia was formed in 1963,
numerous changes could be seen in Sabah, in terms of development,
education, economy and social.
Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Liew Vui Keong said the progress was a result of harmony and cooperation through a structure development process.
"In this matter, I am confident that we can maintain our fortress of unity and even make it stronger.
"Although there are certain quarters who try to demolish this fortress, the unity and consensus we have built remain the main pillars that keep us together," he said while officiating the Malaysia Day Fiesta here Sunday night.
Liew, who is also Sandakan Member of Parliament said the government has worked hard to develop the national economy and strengthened unity among the many races.

Sabah has registered a GDP growth of over 7% over past five years which is one of the highest growth rate among all the states in Malaysia. The efforts of Musa’s government have resulted into metamorphosis of a revenue deficit state into a revenue surplus state with reserves of 2.32 billion ringgit . Last year alone, the state’s export value stood at RM49.4 billion with trade surplus of RM16.6 billion.
