KOTA KINABALU, Aug 30 (Bernama) -- Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman wants the Sabah Housing and Real Estate Developers Association (Shareda) to step up efforts to facilitate the development of affordable homes "so that more families can buy property".

In making the call, he said there was a need for more low- to medium-range priced homes that would enable people from lower income groups the opportunity to own houses.

"With that security in their old age, they will not have to worry about having a roof over their heads once they are no longer able to earn.

"As such, it is crucial for Shareda members to focus on quality and to not cut corners with the rising costs of materials. It is your responsibility to ensure that you provide what you promise your buyers," he said in his speech at the opening ceremony of the Sabah Housing and Real Estate Developers Association (Shareda) PropEX 2012 at Sabah Trade Centre, Likas, near here Thursday.
