Petronas' massive investments in Sabah will ensure many years of continued
economic prosperity for the state, says Sabah Bumiputera Chamber of
Commerce tresurer Roselan Johar Mohamed.
Petronas is forging ahead with upstream and downstream oil and gas projects
involving a combined capital investment of RM45 billion.
Sabah's progressive development was now moving full steam ahead with attention
focused on Petronas' massive investment in Kimanis and Sipitang. These includes
the Sabah Oil Gas Terminal, the Kimanis Gas Fired Power Plant Ammonia and Urea
Plant Project in Sipitang.
"As it is, it is good to see more Sabah companies getting into the act or tapping into
the growth potential offered by the oil and gas industry. While entry is never easy,
all one has to do is to register to undertake the projects.
"Nowadays, registration can be made easily through the web. Registration is closed
now and will resume in January. We have been informed that this temporary closure
was to improvise, upgrade and address flaws in the current registration system,"
he told Bernama.
Roselan said more than 20 Sabah companies were involved in Petronas' Sabah-Sarawak Gas Pipeline and Sabah oil and gas terminal projects and this was a good
sign for the state.
