Japan's Strong Business Ties With Malaysia

Saturday, May 18, 2013

The Japanese has always been a familiar business venture partner especially here in Malaysia which is very visibly evident.

From electrical appliances, gadgets, to heavy industries such as automobiles and heavy machinery's are the common preferences of Made in Japan Products purchase for Malaysians.

For recent update on business partnership, RESONA Holdings Inc, Japan’s fifth-largest bank by market value, is poised to tie up with Malaysia’s Public Bank Bhd (Public Bank) as part of its efforts to expand in Asia.

Resona will sign an agreement with Malaysia’s third-biggest lender on May 20 to service Japanese companies looking to enter the country and borrow in the local currency, president Kazuhiro Higashi said in an interview this week.

Higashi, 56, who became president last month said that there are many Japanese companies in Malaysia, so they wanted to support them with a local banking partner. He also stated that they covered most big Asian countries by now, adding that he’s interested in Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia.

Resona is tapping credit demand from faster-growing economies as deflation and a shrinking population limit growth at home.

Another news is on one of the giants of Japanese automobile producer in Malaysia, Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia Sdn Bhd (Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia) on its marketing campaign. They recently have officially launched the ‘Mitsubishi 4×4 Experience’, a fun-filled obstacle challenge roadshow which will span six locations in Sabah and Sarawak until July 7 2013.

The tour kicked off at the outdoor edge of Boulevard Shopping Mall yesterday with extreme obstacles featuring a giant ramp and 45 degree angle side traverse to showcase the impressive off-road handling of the Mitsubishi Triton VGT and Pajero VGT.

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia sold close to 10,000 units of Pajero Sport and Triton last year and 25 per cent of the total sales were contributed by East Malaysia.

Ralliart enthusiasts will be for a treat as the company will be bringing the most sought-after Mitsubishi Ralliart collection to the 4×4 Experience in Kuching and Kota Kinabalu.

Another prime competitor to Mitsubishi as a four 4 wheel drive vehicle seller in Malaysia is Isuzu Malaysia Sdn Bhd (Isuzu Malaysia). Which has just launched the second generation Isuzu D-Max which comes with a fresh-new design boasting superior comfort, safety and refinement without sacrificing the brand’s hallmark durability, reliability and fuel efficiency.

These improvements, in line with Isuzu’s three core design values, allow the second-generation Isuzu D-Max to ‘Elevate your journey’ – the promotional slogan for the new vehicle.

“What the original Isuzu D-Max has done was to set exceedingly high standards in durability, reliability and fuel efficiency.

Up to current date, Japanese products and brands are very popular and well received among consumers in Malaysia. The involvement of these giant company names in Malaysian market appeared to have mutually benefited Japan and Malaysia for strong business ties while promoting economic growth for both.
