LANGKAWI: The capabilities of local companies in the manufacturing of components and equipment for the maritime and aerospace industry have increased and progressed, said former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
“I am happy to see that the progress in the country has increased tremendously, so much so that almost everything we need can be produced in the country,” he said to reporters during a visit to the Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre in conjunction with the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (Lima) 2013 here yesterday.
He said there were local companies capable of producing components for notable aircraft manufacturer in the world including Airbus.
“Some components are made from titanium.
It is not a material that can easily be moulded but we see that we can produce components to hold engines,” said Dr Mahathir
