We just couldn't resist the temptation to go and observe in person a STAR Chinese new year dinner function that was held just now in Buhavan Square, Donggongon. Just to satisfy our curiosity.
The crowd was reasonably 'impressive'
( there were some empty tables though that was obvious). But that was not the matter that caught our attention.

In his very short speech to officiate the function, Jeffrey cautioned the attendees not to give in to the 'gula-gula' that is being provided by the present government.
He further noted that these 'gula-gula' are just baits for the pending election. His speech was very vague and did not indicate what exactly this 'gula-gula' was referred to.
We can only presume that he is referring to the treats that was mentioned in the budget: The second round of BR1M 2.0 and a more recent development that we have updated regarding the Karisma Hati Rakyat (Read HERE) among many other things.
Earlier during the day we highlighted a fact that was disclosed by the director-general of the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) in the Prime Minister’s Department that the poverty rate of Sabah has decline to 8.1 percent as of 2012 (Read HERE).
Even though the figure is in decline, it's not an excuse for the government to give additional aids to the group of people that is still in that 8.1%.
Bottom Line: While STAR and their only ally focus more on their pursuits of their Borneo Agenda, they did not explicitly give a solid stance on how are they to tackle the question of poverty should mandate is given to them. Poverty is but one of many socio-economy issues that the present administration of the state under Datuk Musa Haji Aman has not only need to address, but also as of now have manage to prove to the federal government that his administration 'did not drop the ball' on their watch.
