Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin |
KOTA KINABALU: Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has urged companies owned by Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) to play a more active role in the development of Sabah by increasing investment in sectors identified under the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP).
These sectors, the Deputy Prime Minister said, included oil and gas, oil palm, tourism, agriculture and others under the Sabah Development Corridor.
Closing the Malaysian Mutual Trust Week (MSAM) 2012 here yesterday, he said in Sabah alone, several entry point projects (EPPs) such as the Kimanis Oil & Gas Terminal, Lahad Datu and Sandakan Palm Oil Industry Cluster worth RM6.3 billion.
He said all in all, the 31 EPPs in Sabah thus far would yield a gross revenue of RM33.5 billion and create 143,700 jobs by 2020.
At the same time, Muhyiddin said 92 per cent of the RM77.5 billion needed to implement these projects, were expected to come from the private sector including PNB.
Muhyddin is right, hope that the PNB will be more active in the investment sector within the state. This is to help improve the economic developments in Sabah.

These Entry Point Projects are good for Sabah's economy, the Kimanis Oil and Gas Terminal will be providing lots of opportunities for the locals to get trained in the oil and gas sector as well as reduce unemployment problems within the state.
